I’m Saskia

I Paint

To create makes me happy, I enjoy the freedom of painting.
When I paint I try to capture various kinds of emotions, sometimes I try to capture the ineffable.
Growing up in a family of scientists and artists influenced my perspective on life and the world in general, it shaped my outlook.
I feel there is a contradiction in everything, those contradictions inspire me.
I’m influenced by Impressionism and Fauvism, also by fairy tales.
In my paintings there are often narrative scenes of nature.
The butterfly theme is important to me because it represents themes of strength and fragility.

It was Henri Matisse who said that there are always flowers for those who want to see them, so why not just paint them!
